COUNTLESS memories later...

I'm here!! By the grace of God, I am finally here! Though, truthfully, I don't know where "here" is, nor why it's so special to finally be "here"... but I feel a tremendous peace about where God has and is leading Fiona and I. The past few months have been filled with many great, unique, and sometimes challenging tranistions and changes. But it has been an adventure that I wouldn't trade for anything! THANK YOU to all of you who have kept us in your thoughts and prayers. We have felt them and appreciate them SO MUCH!!!

So, we arrived in Tampa Aug 1 and I can't believe that a month has passed. School started this past week and I'm working at the Sheraton Front Desk again. I'm doing 2 afternoon shifts (3-11pm) and I'm now a trained Night Auditor (11-7am). We're really enjoying atten ding South Tampa Fellowship again and are doing our best to meet other young married couples. Fiona is getting more and more baby-sitting opportunities through contacts in the church too, which is a great answer to prayer. We have also found a place to move into next week, which we are REALLY excited about. Aunt Suanne has been very hospitable and patient in putting up with us in her house. It's also SO AWESOME to be back in Tampa with so many loved ones (Uncle Barry, Jesse, SarahMaria, the IV gang, church folks, etc.)!!!!!

Know that you are all very missed and I keep wanting to write and call (most of) you, but am struggling to find the time too. So, at least I'll try to do better at keeping this updated (I know I say that all the time).

Peace out

A Poem

Well, bthere's not much news going on at the moment. Fiona just left for work and I'm off to school in a bit. But I want to get more consistent at updating my xanga, so I thought I'd make it "Typewriter Thursday" and put a poem up that I wrote a few months ago. Let me know what you think or if it can be made better somewhere.
Cheers!

Find the Devil

Find the devil in your glass of wine

In tipsy turns you dream and fall

The brim be bathed upon all time

As diluted drinks poison your all

Find the devil in the your music scene

The sound that flows like toxic air

Words that choke and rhymes obscene

And toss your body from here to there

Find the devil in your powdered snow

The one to fix the broken view

Drive-Thru death while on the go

As love and life abandon you

Find the devil in your picture box

The one that flickers in mind and eye

That cuffs and kills through ticks and tocks

Where you, not actors, finally die

Find the devil in a high too low

Too weak to satisfy the hungered lust

Sheets that cover what lies below

As blankets swathe the broken trust

Discover your lies in exchange for truth

Find the devil, lest the devil finds you

Remember Me...

Ah yes, the familiar world of xanga. It had been so long since I've updated, that I couldn't remeber where the button was for a "New Weblog Entry"... pathetic, I know! How are you all??

Me, I'm doing alright. Hanging in there for the rollercoaster that we call life, but for some reason I often feel like my seatbelt is broken and I just might lose the battle to gravity in the next loop. School is in its closing weeks, so everything is getting extremely busy there, still working a good 20 hours per week, playing on two soccer teams (we won our first official game last week), attending church and small groups, being married, and I'm also fairly sick right now. So yeah, keepin' it together would be the apt term!

Fiona's and my plans for the future are unfortunately in the Unknown at the moment. We're waiting to see whether God pulls a miracle out of his trick-bag (which we are praying for), granting Fiona a visa into the U.S. in the next few weeks. That's a big ask, but we have an even bigger God and we are confident that he can do it!! Nonetheless, we are trying to seek His will for our lives and discover where he wants us to be in the near future. But waiting and being patient is certainly not a forte of mine.
However, we are VERY excited to be heading back to the States in June!! My brother is getting married, which is scary, then Ryan Fultz and Tabs are getting married and then Fiona and I are planning our Open House Reception in Denver, CO. Here are some more details if you are interested, and yes, you are invited!!

It'll be held at WorldVenture (1501 W. Mineral Ave., Littleton, CO, ) on July 21st, and will run roughly from 1-5pm with a small program scheduled around 3pm. Feel free to come and go as you need to and are obviously welcome to stay the whole time! Please RSVP at custers327@gmail.com. Also, some people are inquiring about a gift registry and here is the information on that:

Registry #: 010003993305634

Registry #: 2777699

Also, if you want to view our wedding photos, here are details for that:

Alright, I'll try and update again soon when life has settled down a bit. I can't believe I leave Australia in 6 weeks... Yikes, time has flewn by!!! Yours truly,

Scottland

Back Again

So I wrote a really long update last week and it disappeared on me. Disheartened, I avoided the computer for a week, but am back to try this again.

Life's good!! I really can't complain!! A few new oddities around, but nothing too bad. For instance, there's this other person who keeps appearing in my bed each morning. I don't know how they get there, but they always do. I haven't kicked them out of bed yet, though I have been tempted to do so in moments of panic at early hours in the morning. Plus, she's really cute!!

Married life... so far, so good! One month in I'm still as happy as ever. There's just no comparison to the joys of companionship - just that someone is always there when you come home and someone to talk to about everything. Definitely loving that! To say that things are great would be an understatement. We're VERY, VERY HAPPY TO BE MARRIED TO ONE ANOTHER!!! Now, I'm not naive enough to suspect that it will always be like this... but I will relish every second that it is!!!!
But married life certainly didn't get any less busy. Monday's we (sometimes) attend Fiona's old small group. Tuesdays we both have outdoor soccer: I play on a team, and Fiona has agreed to training the girls' team at practices, which is great!!! Wednesday nights we have our church small group, which we both really enjoy a lot. Thursday's I've been playing on an Indoor Soccer Team (which should end in a month or two though). And then I try and get twenty hours of work in between those, University, homework, and spending time with my wife. Sometimes sacrifices must be made... so I skipped a class early this morning to hang out with Fiona and sleep in a little longer. (Don't worry mom & dad, it wasn't an important one...)

I really have some great classes this semester. My favorite is called "Deakin TV". Some of you know that I (and the rest of my family) am a sick SPORTS NIGHT fan. Well, this class is doing exactly what they do in that show. We are learning how to put together and produce tv shows. And for our final, that's exactly what we're doing. Our class of 25 gets one take to do everything right and put it onto tape and we all share the same grade. I can be Dana, Natalie, Jeremy, Chris, Will, Dave, Casey or Dan, Kim, Jerome, or Monica. (i.e. Producer, Assistant Producer, Assistand Director, Lights, Sound, Graphics, Acting, Floor Manager, Camera-man, or props and clothing, etc.).... GOOD TIMES!!! Since (right now) I'm hoping to be a Sports Broadcaster, I think it's going to be awesome.
I also have a class on photography and get to use a 35 year-old 35mm SLR (singe-lense reflex) camera. And then I have two Communication Theories classes (lots of reading and essay writing).

Fiona and I are trying to get more involved in our church as well and are really digging into the community of fellowship we have there. We (I) really like our minister there and am meeting with him every couple of weeks for some discipling/mentoring opportunities. But every time I go to church I still miss my "old" home church in Spittal and my "newer" home church back in Tampa. They're just all such amazing places of learning and belonging and I want you all to know that I miss you!!

Now, you've seen lots of photos of the wedding (from Fiona's site) and we do have more that will be on the way soon. However, I wanted to share with you the JOY that lasted for the entire week leading up to the wedding. We had several friends and family members from all over the world with us for the days prior to February 3rd, and we made memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life!!! Fiona and I decided a while back that we were not going to "work up until the last second" at our jobs, but wanted to spend that last week with our loved ones. For anyone who is planning on getting married: It was one of the best decisions we've made!!!!!!
Some of you who were here may be reading this and all I can say is THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for coming, thanks for sacrificing so much time and finances to come share an AWESOME time with us. You've touched us immeasurably and we can't express our gratitude enough!!!! And for those that weren't able to come, but dropped us thoughtful and encouraging e-mails, comments, and phone calls - THANK YOU TO YOU TOO!!!!!!!! Those did not go unnoticed or unappreciated! And as Fi has mentioned we're planning a Reception in Denver, CO for the Saturday afternoon on July 21st. We'll also be there a couple days before and after, so feel free to come hang out for a few days (it can kinda be another mini BFA-reunion for some of you as well).

Okay, this is the last paragraph, I swear. I just was going to say a few things about the honeymoon. We flew out to Caloundra, Queensland which is on the Sunshine Coast (a.k.a "Surfer's Paradise). We had a wonderful time and a generous Christian couple there allowed us to stay in their beach-front apartment for free (no, they weren't there). Stuart and Lucy Bradley (friends of the Johnstons) picked us up at the airport and took us to our place. The area lived up to its much-promising name and the temperatures ranged between 28-32C all ten days (though it did finally rain the day we flew out). We had a great time there, but were excited to get back to "our house" in East Ringwood.
That's where I've updated all this from right now. I doubt most have really read this, but don't feel bad - I probably wouldn't have either. I'll try to make them shorter and more frequent. But for now, here are lots of pictures from the Wedding Week and Honeymoon.

Love to all! Cheers!!
